Berenice (burr-niece) is a Mexican American filmmaker born and raised in Los Angeles, California.
As the youngest of three, born to an immigrant single mother, she turned to the cinema for escape, entertainment, and guidance. She began writing at the age of 9 having her first story published in the Lee Elementary news paper in the 5th grade; it was there she realized her thirst for story telling.
She went on to study literature in college which only fueled that thirst. Inspired by the great writers of history, she too committed to using her storytelling to reveal the world in which she lived and expose the unsung struggles the poverty- stricken minorities face in this land of plenty.
